EuGene: maximizing synthetic gene design for heterologous expression
نویسندگان
چکیده
UNLABELLED Numerous software applications exist to deal with synthetic gene design, granting the field of heterologous expression a significant support. However, their dispersion requires the access to different tools and online services in order to complete one single project. Analyzing codon usage, calculating codon adaptation index (CAI), aligning orthologs and optimizing genes are just a few examples. A software application, EuGene, was developed for the optimization of multiple gene synthetic design algorithms. In a seamless automatic form, EuGene calculates or retrieves genome data on codon usage (relative synonymous codon usage and CAI), codon context (CPS and codon pair bias), GC content, hidden stop codons, repetitions, deleterious sites, protein primary, secondary and tertiary structures, gene orthologs, species housekeeping genes, performs alignments and identifies genes and genomes. The main function of EuGene is analyzing and redesigning gene sequences using multi-objective optimization techniques that maximize the coding features of the resulting sequence. AVAILABILITY EuGene is freely available for non-commercial use, at http://bioinformatics.ua.pt/eugene.

Challenging for Expression Bovine Rotavirus (RF Strain) Full-Length VP7 Protein in Prokaryotic System
Background and Aims: Rotavirus enteritis is an acute viral infectious disease among infants. VP7 protein has a key role in attachment and entry virus into the target cell. The VP7 protein is involved in inducing the production of neutralizing antibodies that protect infants against reinfection of the virus. The aim of this study was to heterologous expression of the VP7 gene of bovine rotavirus...
متن کاملDevelopment of A Novel Gene Expression System for Secretory Production of Heterologous Proteins via the General Secretory (Sec) Pathway in Corynebacterium glutamicum
Background: Corynebacterium glutamicum (C. glutamicum) is a potential host for the secretory production of the heterologous proteins. However, to this date few secretion-type gene expression systems in C. glutamicum have been developed, which limit applications of C. glutamicum in a secretory production of the heterologous proteins. Objectives: In this stu...

Background and Objective: As the main virulence factor of Helicobacter pylori, HP-NAP has an important role in immunoprotection against this pathogen. This antigen is a strong candidate as a part of multi-component vaccine in the clinical trial against this bacterium. Due to NAP importance, it was used in this study as a template for optimization of heterologous genes with a low A-T content and...
متن کاملCodon optimization and cloning of bovine prochymosin gene for proper expression in tobacco plant
Bovine chymosin enzyme is one of the most commonly used enzymes in the dairy industry. The production of this enzyme from its natural source does not meet the needs of this huge industry. The production of recombinant bovine chymosin in plants can be a good alternative to native enzyme. Insertion and expression of foreign genes in plants can occur in the nucleus and chloroplast organelles. The ...
متن کاملHeterologous Expression of Potato Virus Y Coat Protein, Isolate Pot187
Background: The advent of recombinant DNA technology has facilitated heterologous expression of proteins from various sources in different host systems including Escherichia coli. If a plant virus coat protein is expressed in the bacterium it can be used as the antigen for antibody preparation. Such a recombinant antigen preparation can be particularly useful where equipment such as ultracentri...
